How We Operate

100% transparent — so no customer can ever say they weren't told. Here's exactly what you're buying, under what law, and what it means for you.

We're a Registered Home Kitchen

Birria Kings AZ's home-prepared items — birria, consomé, quesabirria, ramen, and more — are made in a registered home kitchen under the Arizona Cottage Food Program. Arizona's HB 2042, effective September 14, 2024, expanded that program to make home-prepared foods — including meat dishes — legal to sell in Arizona, as long as the program's rules are followed. We follow them closely.

What This Means for You

Allergen & Pet Honesty

Because we cook in a home kitchen, our space may come into contact with common food allergens (milk, wheat, soy, egg, and others depending on the dish) as well as household pets. We disclose this honestly on every listing and every label — if you have a serious allergy, please ask us directly about a specific item before ordering.

A Family Business, Start to Finish

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Birria Kings AZ is made by the Villa family. Even the boys are part of it — their Pineapple Patrol jars are made under this exact same Cottage Food Program and the exact same rules described on this page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this legal?
Yes. Arizona's HB 2042, effective September 14, 2024, allows registered home kitchens to legally sell home-prepared foods — including meat dishes — directly to consumers under the Cottage Food Program. See the program at azdhs.gov/cottagefood.
Why can't you ship?
Our perishable (TCS — time/temperature control for safety) items must be handed to you in person under Cottage Food Program rules. That's why we only offer local Arizona pickup or personal delivery — never shipping, never third-party delivery apps.
Are you inspected?
Honestly — no. Registered cottage food home kitchens are exempt from routine public health inspection under Arizona law. Here's how we keep food safe anyway: certified food handlers, careful temperature control while cooking and holding food, and a fresh production date on every batch's label.
Where does the meat come from?
All meat comes from normal, USDA-inspected commercial suppliers — the same sources a restaurant would use. Only the preparation happens in our registered home kitchen.
